A lot of people have been questioning the speed of the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio as a newcomer to the performance sedan segment, but rest assured it is quick.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is powered by a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 making 505 horsepower and allegedly rockets to 60 mph at 3.6 seconds and tops out at 191 mph. Neither of these numbers are anything to scoff at but the Alfa Romeo is still a newcomer and many have been cautious to say it tops grandfathers like the M3.

Fortunately, the folks at Drive Tribe pitted the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio against the Mercedes-AMG C63 S and BMW M3 Competition Package. The BMW M3 is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six making 425 horsepower while the Mercedes-AMG C63 S uses a 503 horsepower 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8. In other words, all three vehicles are evenly powered for the most part.

The first performance sedan tested on Drive Tribe’s private two-mile track was the Quadrifoglio. The Italian sedan managed to hit 60 mph in 4.0 seconds with a little wheel spin but hit 100 mph in 8.3 seconds and 150 mph at 20.3 seconds. All times were impressive and proved to position the vehicle nicely among the competition. The Mercedes-AMG made it to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and blasted to 150 mph in 19.9 seconds thanks to two extra cylinders. The BMW M3 was the dog of the group, hitting 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and 150 mph in 21.6 seconds. So as far as raw speed is concerned, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio can hang with the best of them.
