Tires affect your car’s handling, braking, acceleration, road noise, and fuel economy—it pays to pick a set wisely. But you don’t need racing rubber to get great practical performance for everyday driving. The all-season, all-weather Continental TrueContact Tour54 is a great choice for daily-driven cars and crossovers.

The new TrueContact Tour54 tire from Continental evolves the brand’s best touring tires to provide a great balance between performance, comfort, and longevity. To achieve this performance, Continental designers focused on enhanced dry and wet handling, improved wet-weather braking, extended tread life, and even performance in light snow.

The tire uses a symmetrical tread pattern typically found on passenger car tires. The design delivers smooth driving and low rolling resistance. The latter is important as it contributes to good fuel economy. Another plus is that symmetrical tread tires are easily rotated (something not achievable with asymmetrical tread tires commonly found on SUVs). Finally, this type of tire rides quiet, an important part of passenger comfort on a long drive. Who wants to listen to “singing” tires that compete with your Spotify playlist?

The tires also benefit from Continental’s EcoPlus Technology. Continental designers used a special polymer and an additive to create a tire with extended tread life; such a tire also saves fuel and optimizes driving range. Good fuel economy not only saves you money at the pump, but is beneficial for the environment. The Environmental Protection Agency has estimated that for every gallon of gas saved, 19.4 fewer pounds of toxic emissions are released into the atmosphere. And there’s another terrific bonus as well: this tire also stops short on wet roads.

The TrueContact Tour54 delivers other performance enhancements as well. Consider, for example, the Tuned Performance Indicators. Here, D, W, and S symbols embedded in the tread disappear when the tire is no longer tuned for optimum performance in either dry (D), wet (W), or snow (S) conditions. In essence, it’s an early warning system for tire replacement.

Vehicle alignment is an important part of overall vehicle performance, and an out-of-alignment suspension is a common cause of premature tire wear. But the TrueContact Tour54 tire features special indicators on both sides of the tread. A tire that displays even wear lets you know the vehicle is in proper alignment; if these indicators wear off unevenly, you know you need to check wheel alignment.

The TrueContact Tour54 tire is also compatible with electric vehicles.“EV Ready Continential’s “EV Ready” tires are designed to mesh with three particular EV characteristics—namely, weight, noise, and range. First, because EVs carry a large, heavy battery and typically weigh more than cars powered by internal combustion engines, Continental Tour54 and other EV-ready tires are designed to carry that additional weight safely. Second, the interior of an EV is noticeably quieter than that of an internal combustion engine, which is why Continental EV tires have been designed to deliver a quiet ride. Third, vehicle range is obviously an important concern for EV owners due to the limited battery range per charge and extended charging times. Rest assured, though, Continental’s EV tires are designed to maximize your vehicle’s driving range. Bottom line: you can install a set of these tires on your EV without having to worry about any loss of overall performance.

The TrueContact Tour54 tire replaces the existing PureContact LS and TrueContact Tour, combining them into one powerful line. The new tire will be available to fit rims from 15 to 20 inches and will fit most sedans, SUVs, and crossover models.
