It’s that time of year when the warm fuzzies start flying and advertisers really try to tug at your heart-strings. Seeking to capitalize on the spirit of the season, Subaru debuted a new advertising campaign for their 2017 “Share the Love” event. The new series kicks off with five new spots, sharing stories of real people whose lives have been touched by the program, which Subaru runs each year.

During this year’s event, Subaru will donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle purchased or leased from November 16th through January 2nd. The customer gets to choose which of two hometown charities the donation will go to. This year, more than 660 local charitable organizations are participating. Subaru is hoping this year they will tally a grand total of $115 million in donations since the event was created ten years ago.

The five spots feature inspiring stories including two friends brought together through Meals on Wheels, a woman who adopted a friendly pup in need, and a young boy battling critical illness. The spots will air in 30-second and 60-second formats on national television. They are all available for viewing on Subaru’s YouTube channel as well.

Speaking on the annual event Alan Bethke, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Subaru of America said, “At Subaru, positively impacting local communities across the country has been a passion project and we are overjoyed to see how Share the Love has touched the lives of so many individuals over the last decade. This new campaign is a tribute to our charity partners who have made the success of the Subaru Share the Love event possible, and a promise to our communities to always put a little love in our hearts.”

I’m not going to lie to you, I watched the spots and there are some tearjerkers. So have the Kleenex handy and get ready to show your softer side.
