Akrapovic Pumps Up The Volume On This Porsche 991 GT3 RS

The titanium exhaust sure isn't cheap, but it does sound great.

Porsche’s most recent GT3 RS is, without a doubt, the single loudest factory-exhaust car I’ve ever driven on track. And more than loud, it actually sounds damn fine, too. The shriek of the four-liter flat-six engine when it’s running above 6,000 RPM is mind melting. There’s something about the frequency and resonance of that stock exhaust that makes it sound almost like it is permeating within and throughout your entirety of being. Every one of the cells that makes up your existence vibrates to the staccato blips of your right foot on the loud pedal. It’s otherworldly.

So, what must that same exotic experience feel like when the car in question is fitted with a freer flowing Akrapovic titanium cat-back exhaust setup? It almost boggles my mind that anyone can drive a 991 GT3 RS and think to themselves that it isn’t loud enough or doesn’t offer enough performance. Then again, the car in this video sounds like a street-legal GT3 Cup car, and I can completely understand why someone would deign to own such a monster. The video itself is short enough that it warrants a viewing just on principle, but it also sounds good enough that I played it on a loop in the background a few times.

The car itself is painted in a shade that is loud enough on its own. Having this exhaust on the car only helps to amp up the look-at-me factor, but that isn’t always a bad thing. Hearing the thing out there on track with all four liters screaming obscenities at anyone even close to the track fencing, it sounds like a great way to spend a weekend. What do you think, too loud or not nearly enough? Weigh in in the comments below.
