Taking A Porsche 991.2 Turbo For A Very Fast First Drive

Don't buy a 911 Turbo to impress others, buy it to impress yourself

Yesterday we showed you Moto-Man talking about the technology in the new 991.2 Turbo and Turbo S. A new day, a new video, this time showing off the car’s first drive, checking out the various driving modes to test what the new Turbo is capable of. Needless to say, this car is capable of quite a lot more than your average street-legal machine. It’s quick, it’s fast, it’s comfortable, and it costs quite a bit less than some other (perhaps Italian) cars that it can embarrass in a speed test.

The 911 Turbo has often been derided as looking ‘like any other 911’, or not flashy enough. That, though, is perhaps its greatest feature. The 911 Turbo is an understated supercar of sorts. It doesn’t look out of place driving in town, it won’t get as much shouty attention as a Huracan or 488 might, and it’s certainly comfortable and useable enough to drive every day.

Part of the joy of driving a new turbocharged Porsche is the new “Sport Response” button that basically optimizes all of the car’s settings for 20 seconds of adrenalin pumping action. We’ve found that this button is perfect for committing a pass around slower traffic. If you want to see how it works, check out the video below.

Make sure you stick around until the end of the video to see George talk about his limited-edition Porsche belt buckle.
