I really love my Porsches, but I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t properly clean my cars as well or as often as I should. I don’t have the attention to detail or the patience to clean the way that Larry Kosilla of AMMO NYC does. This video shows the level of attention to detail that he really pays to the cleanliness of his 964 track car. The focus of this particular video is on wheel restoration and working the brake dust out of the wheel wells of your car, especially as part of your winter cleaning process. Realistically, you should properly clean your cars before winter and after winter to make sure the salt doesn’t get caked up in the underside of your car.
Even for a guy who doesn’t pay attention to cleanliness as much, the before and after contrast is quite impressive, and watching the brake dust roll off of his calipers is one of the most satisfying visuals ever. The end result with perfectly clean wheels, lug nuts, and wheel wells really looks great. The red brake calipers and the red springs really pop. It’s interesting to see Larry using clay bar on the insides of his wheels to properly clean them, and using tire dressing on the wheel wells to make the blacks of the plastic and undercoating look particularly good with the added benefit of protecting against corrosion. If you’re as obsessively clean as Larry, this might be a great tutorial for you and your car.
