I got my first Dremel rotary tool when I was in fifth or sixth grade. I built and raced radio-controlled cars and it was indispensable for cutting, grinding, and sanding all different kinds of materials. In fact, I still have one in my tool cabinet and it is still the goto for a lot of jobs. Right now, Amazon has a big selection of Dremel Prime Day deals, some as much as $50 off.
If you want a basic, simple to use Dremel for an extremely affordable price, this Cordless 4V Li-ion battery powered kit for $27.99 is tough to beat. It charges with a USB cable and works great for hobbyists and will do some light metalwork. It’s pretty light on accessories, but you can buy just what you need with the money you save.
This Dremel 4300-9/64 rotary tool kit with flex shaft With 9 attachments and 64 accessories is more for “enthusiasts” if there is such a thing. This is a very good rotary tool, and you are saving $50 on it, but you could argue about the need for the tool box, and with this many accessories included, there are probably some you’ll never use. But, Like I said, if you’re a Dremel fan, like me, you will love using this, but also having it as part of a collection.
The more utilitarian choice would be a Dremel 8240-5 12V cordless rotary tool kit with variable speed and comfort grip and 2AH battery pack for $78.65. This is another cordless rotary tool, but it uses a 12-volt swappable battery pack. If you intend to do a decent amount of work, this is one of the better choices. There are several other good choices at great prices. I know some of you have a hatred of these that goes way back to a bad dental experience, but I encourage anyone who does fine grinding and sanding work to look into one of these.
