Volvo has been dazzling us over the last year with their freshest models to date. Their 90 Series has stirred the coals of luxury segments across the board including the sedan, SUV, and high-end wagon markets. Their success in these categories have got us excited for the company’s future, and according to Autocar, their XC40 is on the way for the latter half of 2017.
This will pioneer Volvo’s future generation into the CUV game. The XC40 will surely carry on the delicacy of the brand’s current lineup, giving some much needed flair to the compact category. We see many of the compact utes suffer from dreary styling and interior cheapness, but the Volvo is set to shake that up a bit. It’ll be the middle ground for the brand, instituting an affordable choice for those who want a taste of luxury.
It will be the first vehicle to ride on Volvo’s CMA architecture. The 40 series will be the smallest family of Volvo vehicles, presenting consumers with a variety of options to suit their needs. Geared towards a younger crowd, the XC40 will bring about a unique choice to the company’s lineup. Eventually, it will share the CMA platform with other 40 series including a V40 and S40.
It will compete with the BMW X1 and Audi Q3. Both of these rivals have a stark reputation of engineering and comfort, so the XC40 seems to have a full plate. Many of the 90 Series’ features will surely find their way into the 40, promising exceptional interior luxury and accessibility. It’s exciting to see Volvo step into this territory as their character develops.
