Today on Drive Wire, a man driving a Ford Mustang was arrested in Oklahoma after police clocked him driving at speeds over 200 miles-per-hour, according to the Oklahoma City Press.
Nineteen-year-old Hector Fraire was picked up by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol with help from local sheriffs after he was seen passing troopers at 84 mph in his 2011 Ford Mustang. Police claim that after the first attempts to pull Fraire over failed, the teen was somehow able to push his ponycar up to 208 mph. Troopers also believe Fraire even purposely turned his car’s lights off in an attempt lose the police chasing him.
A Canadian County Sheriffs Deputy sitting further down the road was able to pull Fraire over and place him under arrest for reckless driving and attempting to evade police.
Now, 208 mph on a public road in any car is ridiculous, but is that even possible in a 2011 Mustang? If that speed is accurate, this car must’ve had some serious mods.
Anyways, that’s it for Drive Wire on November 16th, 2016. I’m Aaron Brown; thanks for watching, and please check out The Drive for more on the big stories from the transportation world.
