Mercedes-Benz has come out with an early peek at the insides of the next A-Class—a car that may or may not be coming as a sedan next year—and for what is, at the end of the day, the brand’s entry-level compact, things look swanky as hell.
The upcoming compact Benz looks to lead its segment on the interior front, incorporating tech features and opulence well above its pay grade. Most noticeably, perhaps, is the uninterrupted, two-screen instrument setup that isn’t even offered on the next-level-up C-Class… yet. Available as two seven-inchers, a seven-inch and a 10.25-inch setup, or two 10.25-inch screens, the futuristic (and for the first time, cowlless) instrument panel gives the junior analyst a taste of the executive lifestyle.
Also making its way down the Mercedes-Benz food chain is a steering wheel ripped straight out of the cabin of the top dog S-Class.
“The new A-Class embodies the next stage in our design philosophy of sensual purity, and has the potential to usher in a new design era,” says Daimler design boss Gorden Wagener. “The interior presents modern luxury at a level previously unattainable in this class, and transports the user interface into the digital age.”
The available ambient lighting gives the impression that the bottom half of the dash is floating in addition to making the A-Class’s young, hip driver feel like they’re already at the club.
Turbine-shaped air vents, while not a new thing in the realm of Mercedes, look positively fancy here, it has to be said.
Good news, previous reports have pegged the A-Class as finally available in the U.S. next year. Bad news, expect much of the cool stuff shown here to be pricey, optional extras.
