Some snoops at CarsDirect have gotten their hands on a dealer order guide that revealed pricing for the Chevy Equinox Diesel. No official announcement has been made, but a Chevy representative has confirmed that the pricing is accurate.

The most efficient new Equinox will also be the most expensive. It will be available either as an LT starting at $31,435 or a range-topping Premier at $33,930. They’ll be available in either front or all-wheel drive. The engine in question is a 1.6-liter turbodiesel that produces 137 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque.

For reference, the Equinox LT with the 1.5-liter turbo-four starts at just $27,695 while the 2.0-liter LT starts at $30,090. The cheapest Equinox you can buy is the stripped down L trim which starts at just $24,525.

CarsDirect also has the estimated fuel economy figures for the Equinox Diesel and it’s easily the most efficient option for this crossover. The front-wheel drive version will get 40 highway/32 city mpg while all-wheel drive lowers those numbers to 37 highway/31 city mpg. It’s hard to imagine there isn’t a market for an all-wheel drive crossover with an average mpg that never dips below 30.

The Equinox Diesel will be more efficient than the hybrid version of the Nissan Rogue and the Toyota RAV4. With better efficiency and torquey diesel goodness, the Equinox will be a tempting offering in the fuel sipping compact crossover segment.
