Today on Drive Wire, Porsche has given us the best look yet of the soon-to-be revealed 911 RSR. Though the current 911 race car has been dominant on tracks around the world, Porsche is bringing some serious upgrades to the new car. If the rumors are true, the new 911 RSR will be mid-engined, making it the first mid-engined factory 911 Porsche has ever produced.

Porsche has been quiet on the rumors, but the hints dropped this week seem to confirm the suspicions. Ahead of the car's Los Angeles Auto Show reveal, Porsche has dropped several teaser videos on Twitter of the car in its natural habitat, on the race track. They released a sketch of the car yesterday which contains clues that further point to a shift in engine placement for the new RSR, namely, large intake vents on the side of the car, just like the ones Porsche uses for the mid-engined Cayman.

This morning, Porsche tweeted a silhouette of the back of the car and said, "I am the new 911 RSR. The most extreme of all 911s. Meet me tomorrow." We're loving how wide those tires look and can't wait to meet the beast.
